Who writes this

TextInk began as a supplier of water-based printing inks, polymers and coatings. That business closed when the machine manufacturer it served shut down. The knowledge did not go anywhere, so the site now does something more useful: it tells people buying printing, laboratory, materials and workshop equipment what we would tell a friend.

The people behind it

Prof. Eugene De Silva: Editor and author of this site. A physics and chemistry educator and published textbook author, with a background in formulating water-based printing inks, polymers and specialised coatings, and years of teaching and running laboratories. He writes the guides, runs the cost analyses and builds the calculators.
Our printing ink specialist: Technical review comes from a specialist who holds a senior position at a printing ink manufacturer, with years of hands-on production experience across digital printing systems. She checks our formulation claims, our troubleshooting advice and our equipment assessments before they are published. She reviews in a personal capacity and is not named here, and nothing on this site represents her employer.

How this site makes money

TextInk is free to read and carries no advertising. When we link to a product on Amazon or at a manufacturer, and you buy it, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

That arrangement pays for the site, and it creates an obvious temptation to recommend whatever pays best. Two rules keep us honest about it. We recommend equipment we would spend our own money on, and we say so directly when a product is a poor choice even though a sale would earn us a commission. Where we have not tested something ourselves, the review says that in plain words.
